Community is a founding pillar for Mothers Center of Greater Toledo. Much may have changed since our group was founded in 1984, but Mothers needing a community of support has stayed true. We provide the needed support for all stages of motherhood. Here you can find friends who will be there when you need someone to watch your kids for a quick doctors appointment, or come over and play to save your sanity on a rainy day.
In times of greater need, such as when you bring a new baby home, have an ill family member, or experience a job loss, we gather our group resources and take action. Usually that means creating a meal train and members dropping off home cooked meals. But it has also meant jumping in to provide child care so you could spend time with a very ill parent. Sometimes all we can do is be there and provide support with texts and calls of encouragement and a card with thoughtful messages. We are a community who takes care of our members.
Giving back and supporting mothers and families in our Toledo community is a foundational value for MCGT. We organize volunteer opportunities, donation drives, and acts of service each season for Mothers and their children. The organizations we support have included Toledo Childrens Hospital, Seagate Food Bank , Equality Toledo Food Bank, Food for Thought, We Build Beds, the Ronald McDonald House, and many more through the years.
